How we look after your information

This is for people aged 16 and over. We've tried to write it so you can actually read it.

Who we are

the organisation that gave you access gave you access to this service and decides how your information is used. SkyL4rk UK Ltd runs the app for them and only handles your information on their instructions.

What we keep, and why

  • Your first name, email and password. To make your account and let you log back in. Your password is stored only as a scrambled one-way code, so nobody can read it.
  • Your progress. Which units you've finished and how you did on the quick checks, so you can pick up where you left off and earn certificates.
  • Points, streaks and badges. They're on by default because they help people keep going. You can switch them off in your settings.
  • A nickname. We give you a random one. It's the only name other people on the leaderboard see, together with your points. You can change it or hide yourself.
  • Your team, if your access code placed you in one, so your team's results can be counted together.
  • Your reflections, only if you say yes. The "quick check-in" boxes are optional. If you choose to save what you write, it is encrypted, and only you can read it back. Please don't write about your health or anything very personal. If you ever do, it is treated as especially sensitive and covered by your explicit consent.
  • A record of what you agreed to, and when.

The legal basis for all of this is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.

Who can see it

  • You can see everything we hold about you, in your settings.
  • the organisation that gave you access gets totals and percentages about groups, for example how many people finished a module. Groups of fewer than 5 are never broken out, so nobody can be picked out.
  • Your individual account can be opened by an administrator at the organisation that gave you access only to help you with a problem, and each time is written to a log with the reason. Nobody can ever read your reflections.
  • SkyL4rk UK Ltd, who run the app, and the companies that host the website and send our emails. Our developer may sometimes work from outside the UK. That access is part of SkyL4rk UK Ltd and limited to what's needed. The website and its database are hosted on servers in the UK.
  • We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or track you across other sites.

How long we keep it

If you don't log in for 6 months, we email you a warning and then delete your account and everything linked to it. You can delete it yourself at any time, in your settings. Deleting is immediate and can't be undone. Copies in backups are overwritten as the backups rotate out.

Your rights

You can see and download your information, correct it, delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent. Most of this you can do yourself in your settings.

If you're not happy with how we've handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd like the chance to put it right first.

Cookies

We use one cookie, to keep you logged in. It's essential for the app to work, so there's no cookie banner. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Fonts and code are served from our own site, so no third party learns that you visited.
